Is the "new" gnome-calendar a fork of california?

No, they are completely different applications.

California is well designed and buggy as hell, where GNOME Calendar is stable at its work of showing the month.

I even put a $50 bounty in fixing a California high importance papercut three months ago, and nobody took it.

The problem is when you start many things, and you finish none. Till the moment it works all the time and money used is just wasted.

So this is why is so important to stick with one thing till finished. Now we have plenty of calendaring applications, and none of them work at a bare minimum in a GNOME based desktop.

I am even considering contracting someone to fix the mess, because I really need this kind of software.
