[Banshee-List] Shuffle by artist or by album not working anymore

I had been using Banshee for a week or two when all shuffle options except shuffle by song stopped working. I don't know about shuffle by rating or score, but shuffle by artist was definitely working until a couple of days ago. 

This is what is happening when I have shuffle by artist selected: 
-When I skip to the next song, I get a regular shuffle by song outcome (it goes to another song, independent of the artist), but 
-when I leave the song to finish, then it plays the one immediately after (as if no shuffle option was selected). 

I am running Banshee 2.6.2 on Linux Mint 17 Cinnamon v2 (64 bit machine). 

I tried a couple of desklets and applets before it stopped working, but I'm not sure the exact moment it did not work any more. 

Not long before it stopped working I messed around a bit with the database: I deleted the ratings and playcounts that the database got from the tags when importing the songs. I do know that it's most likely not related with the database, as I tried using the shuffle by artist on another user's account in the same machine (different database), and it didn't work either. 

I tried uninstalling all applications I believe I had installed between when I knew the shuffle by artist was working and when I realised that it wasn't, but have not seen any changes.

After that, whenever I skip a song, the following appears on the terminal (although I presume it does not have too much to do with the problem, as I get the message independently of whether shuffle by artist is selected or not).
