Thanks for the reply. Yes I have DVD and Audio CD option enabled, it seems to make no difference. I could not find that log file, if I create the file will it be populated?

Is
the "DVD and Audio CD support" extension enabled ?
To check, go to Edit > Preferences and look for it in the Extensions tab.
You could also have a look in the Banshee log which is ~/.config/banshee-1/log
