OK, it's been a few months, and I haven't received any replies. A few more
details. First, banshee doesn't see audio CDs either. I think I know what
the source of the problem is. When I run banshee from the command line I get
the following:



I gather from all this that gnome-settings-daemon isn't starting, so
extensions can't load, and things like mp3 players and audio CDs depend on
extensions. So the other detail that's maybe important is that I'm running
KDE. Does this make it impossible to use banshee with extensions? Is there
just some step I'm missing?
