I am wondering if you ever started working on it. I've recently started
fiddling around with the API myself but I have never worked on a Banshee
extension. Maybe I can contribute?

This bug mentions the problem with the ad requirement from Grooveshark.
However, if you use the API to stream music to Grooveshark subscribers
(Grooveshark Anywhere) they do not require ads to be shown. However, the
extension will be only useful for subscribers this way, but still, it's a
viable solution.

I could always drop a mail to the API team on Grooveshark and request their
view on the matter anyway.
