This fixed my problem too - the same problem Blacksun had.

But it's not exactly solved: The file reappeared after I played a tune,
disconnected & reconnected. Guessing it keeps track of the play-stats and is
regen'd automagically when you use the shuffle.

Getting rid of the iTunesStats file is a temporary fix, but since I don't
jigger my songs all that frequently on the shuffle, it's not a bad one!
