[Banshee-List] Banshee ipod playback

I have searched this up and found the question, but no answers or anything to
do with it. It's become frustrating, as I haven't found a program that will
easily even see my ipod, much less manage or play songs from it. Banshee
recognises my ipod nano 3g, but shows lock symbols next to each song. When I
hover the mouse over the symbols, it labels the songs 'protected'; does this
mean banshee will only work with jailbroken firmware?

I ask because I plan on using the application for managing my ipod and
playing directly from it and not much else, and playback seems to be
suffering from this. Banshee will play a selected song, but only that song,
even though I have the option to play songs on shuffle selected.

I have found a work around in that I can move the songs into the Play queue
playlist, but they are still locked until I play them, and they will only
play in order, not in shuffle. After that, they seem to be open for shuffle,
but given that there's 3.1 days' worth of music (not much to some, I know),
I'd rather just be able to play music directly from the device without
hassle. I'm not too optimistic given the age of the other questions and the
fact that they are still unanswered, but I figured Banshee is solid in every
other respect, so I should give it a shot here.

Or, alternatively, should I use another application, and what will allow me
to play it directly and manage it?
