It would be nice if Xfce's notification system would hide the tags it doesn't recognize (such as span), but since it's not in the spec, they're under no obligation to do so: �https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7773

Right now, I don't know of any good workarounds. �It should be very easy to fix this in Banshee, once we decide what exactly we want to display instead of span tags. �I'd probably vote for italics or nothing around the words "by" and "from". The <i> tag would be accepted by all compliant notification systems.

few ways. If you want to have Banshee notifications display correctly,

I haven't put much time into investigating the issue, to determine if
it is a bug in Banshee or xfce4-notifyd. Either case seems just as
likely to me at this point.
