I've recently decided to switch to Ubuntu Studio from windows, mainly so I
could have a more stable OS for audio editing and the like
So far, I have found Banshee to be the best music player / organiser I have
tried, however I am having a few issues
Thank you, since you were nice I dug up some bug reports you may want to subscribe to.
The first one, is that whenever I import my CDs, each track shows up twice
in the organiser view (but there is only one file in the appropriate music
folder. currently I'm deleting the duplicate entries, but this will get
boring, seeing as I have to import over 100 CDs (I used to use .wav files
when running windows, but there was no metadata stored with them, so when I
import the files, the all show as unknown artist etc, so I've decided to
re-rip my whole collection using flac)
If you have the library watcher enabled then that is the cause of this.
The second one is regarding my iPod - I have an ipod classic, and banshee
allows me to import mp3s directly. However, if the files are flac files,
then they will need to be converted. But the only conversion option
avaliable is a .wav file. And I don't need uncompressed sound (plus the
problem that .wav doesn't store metadata) for my ipod, as i only really gets
used in the car
Very likely the bug report you want is this:
also there is a strangeness right now for all DAPs where we are forcefully converting supported formats for some reason:
I have also noticed that it can glitch quite badly, but I see that a
previous post already mentions this issue, and I'm having a look now
Please do file bugs (with debug logs naturally)
