I have always used podcast for a while, and until lately I decided to use Banshee to manage them. Many of my podcasts have mixed items (video, audio, pdf, text, etc...) Banshee, of course, can only handle audio and video, but since there is some other formats, I would like banshee to open an external application that can handle the format. For example, open evince when a pdf is opened.
I see that Banshee shows a menu trying to look for a suitable plugin, but that doesn't work. I think that just opening an external application will be the best.
