Banshee uses a library called taglib-sharp to read metadata from tracks.

It's possible that this library doesn't support the kind of files you're 
trying to import to banshee, or that you're hitting a bug of the library.

It would be good to file a bug explaining the issue so the developers 
can figure out what is going on in your case:
