Command line still works for me.
The fact that a new banshee is started usually indicates a d-bus
related issue : banshee uses d-bus to check if an instance is already
running, and if yes, the command line parameter is sent to the
existing instance.
Starting banshee with "banshee --debug" might give an indication of
what going wrong.
