I tried to compile the latest version, but even though I installed
taglib-sharp (from source), ./configure still complained that I had an
old taglib-sharp. I completely failed to get around this problem, so I
opted for just trying to rescue the files.
The older 1.4 was built out of the FreeBSD ports tree.

Is this the case even when the music was just imported from a device?
I had a look at the files under the Music folder, and I do not seem to
see any there that are from the old set. You see, their file names are
the terrible kind that are imported from iPods, so I cannot tell what
the songs are from the name of the file.

I did that on your advice, and it worked, but while importing, Banshee
died from an error. I should not bother you with the report, because the
version is rather old. I am right now going to try importing the files
little by little, directory by directory. :o)
