There seemed to be some interest in this about a year ago, but not much has happened since then.  If you want to follow along, you can CC yourself to this bug report: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=598625  I agree that it would be a great feature to have, and maybe it will take a higher priority if more people express interest in it.
