[Banshee-List] Song starts, then skips to next one

I'm running 1.6.1 on xubuntu, and sometimes -- not often -- a song will
start, play a couple of seconds, and then skip to the next song. Sometimes,
but not always, the sound quality is scratchy, like old vinyl. Any thoughts?
