[Banshee-List] Sync HTC Desire

hi,

i have version 1.7.1 of Banshee installed. I understand i should be able to
sync my HTC Desire with the app, however when i connect the handset via USB
nothing happens, i cant see anything in the settings to allow me to select
the device either.

Any help would be appreciated. 

Also am i able to sync my contacts with Banshee as well?
