Ahh, how could I have forgotten your SoC project?  The Now Playing area really is a logical place for all of that extra contextual information, and I'm excited to see how your effort will turn out.  When you get to the point where you need testers, I'll gladly help as much as I'm able. :)

I really like the idea of putting the context area on the right side instead of the bottom.  For widescreen monitors, this is a much more practical use of space, and I would imagine that much of the content (especially Lyrics and Wiki pages) would be easier to read when crammed into a tall area, rather than a wide one.

Don't forget there's also my summer of code project! http://www.lamalex.net/2010/05/this-soc-project-is-dedicated-to-morrissey/ which moves the context area content into the now-playing area.
