A recent computer crash corrupted my Banshee database which had been
working fine. I'm on Karmic Koala Ubuntu with Banshee 1.5.3. I now know
to nightly backup my Banshee database under ~/.config/ ...
unfortunately I didn't have a backup before! :-)
So, I tried Tools->Rescan Music Library. Great, but no ratings.
I can connect my iPod and pull the songs over, and that works...but
only when the iPod is hooked up. Even though a right click on a song in
Banshee shows the Properties as having the file path on the system,
it's really playing the file from the iPod. Same thing if I export a
playlist from the iPod and then import it.
Next I went to my old PC iTunes library. I only switched to Ubuntu
a month or so ago so I'm not losing too many ratings. I can't get
Banshee to like my file path for the Location tag in my iTunes library
xml file no matter what I try. I always get "Unable tomap iTunes URI to
local URI"
The path looked something like this before:
<key>Location</key><string>
file://localhost//JERRI/music/Adiemus/Songs%20of%20Sanctuary/01%20-%20Adiemus.mp3</string>
Our Linux server Jerri (which shared the songs over SMB) was where I had iTunes pointed.
I've got the songs mounted now on /jerri/music/
I've tried:
file://localhost/jerri/music/
/jerri/music/
file:///jerri/music/
etc.
with
no luck. How can I import my Windows iTunes library onto Banshee on
Ubuntu, *or* reload the library and find some other way to restore the
ratings? I've scoured the web & support forums and haven't found
anything yet.
