Disableing the extension solved the problem, thanks Michael Martin!
(Just for the record: the reason to why your first advice didnt
help("unchecking the box next to "Show Notifications."), was that no such
box appeared when I right clicked the Banshee-icon. My version: Banshee 1.6
Beta 2 (1.5.1)).
