Also, there's an option in the View menu.  I think it's "Show
Recommendations", and you can uncheck it.  In the latest git versions
it's View->Context Pane, but I think in 1.4.x and earlier it was
View->Show Recommendations.

Then you don't have to turn off Last.fm.
