There is an extension for lyrics that works in Banshee 1.4.1. Ubuntu PPA
users can install it via the "banshee-extension-lyrics" package. Users
of other distros can look into compiling it themselves (or getting
distro-specific packages) here:

As for per-playlist sync support, I think it's coming.
