Now you got me confused. In other words: don't ask neither here nor there.
And I guess it's probably considered even more inappropriate to ask the
person that is assigned to a bug.

Keep in mind, what happened was that two different people expressed different opinions. I was more or less suggesting that on bug reports you don't just ask "Hey, what's happening with this?" because if you can't tell from the comments on the bug report, then the answer is "Nothing."

But yeah, when a bug is assigned, you can definitely ask the person who owns the bug. I'd think that would be the exception: ping via email or ping via the bug.
