[Banshee-List] Loading media from an external drive

Hello, my problem is that I cannot build my music collection in Banshee. I
have all my music stored in an external disk. When I try to import and
select the supra folder which contains the hundreds of subdirectories where
the different albums are contained the program simply seems to wait for me
to open the last folder until at last a number of individual songs are
displayed. These I  can add to the music library. 

But then, loading the music library in this way would be a dreadful task. so
how can I select one main folder located in my external disk and then make
the program load all of the songs contained in the subdirectories?
