Just realised i never pasted the links:
http://banshee-project.org/Guide/DAPs/MTPhttp://banshee-project.org/Guide/DAPs/MTP/Known_Bugs
That may help.

Try these links:
Firstly, open a terminal and run:
mtp-detect
Your device should get listed there. If it isn't listed, you have a more serious problem. Assuming it gets listed in mtp-detect, try running :
banshee --debug
in your terminal. If that doesn't give any useful information, then i'll need to add more debug spew so i can figure out the issue. Also, just to check - when you were compiling banshee from source, you did use:
./autogen.sh --enable-mtp
If you didn't pass the --enable-mtp switch, you don't get MTP support.

Still not working for me :(
is there a way to make banshee go in verbose mode so we can tell why its not adding it?On Jan 6, 2008 6:52 AM, Alan McGovern <

Ah, if you update your checkout it should work fine now. I checked around today trying to find the bug and i realised there were still checks for libgphoto in the initialisation code which was preventing it from working unless libgphoto2 was installed. Everything should work fine now.
One of my test devices is a 16GB Creative Zen, so if it works for the 16GB model, it should work for the 4GB model. Happy syncing!

I edited that file to change the name and I still get the same errors
Hi,
This is the result of having an old version of libmtp. Currently the only way to get creative zen support is to have version
0.2.4 of libmtp as special fixes are needed for the new creative zen players. So if your distro does not have this, then you need to compile from source.
The only issue then is that the dll config file for mono maps requests calls to libmtp.dll to libmtp.so.6, but libmtp got a so version bump at 0.2.3. To make banshee use the newer libmtp you'd have to alter the
libmtp-sharp.dll.config file to redirect to libmtp.so.7.
Aaron: The binding for the mtp stuff is API/ABI compatible with both libmtp.so.6 and libmtp.so.7. Are there any runtime tricks which can be used to load the .so.7 if it's available rather than .so.6?
Alan.
Hello
My Creative Zen 4gig is showing up when I run mtp-detect as
root but, when I run the latest stable branch with libmtp support
compiled in banshee does not show it up and just shows
