I don't think this is exactly the same, though it could be the same problem. 
Basically I can only copy data to my iPod once.  If I unplug and plug in
again then Banshee does not recognise any data on the iPod as music
(although it is there as I am listening to it as I type!).

I will investigate how to build Banshee from source on Ubuntu and advise if
the current development trunk does indeed work.
