I have been using and enjoying banshee for over a year now, with both my
previous iPod and my current 5th gen Black 30gb video one. Uptil
recently banshee and the iPod got on fine. However something has changed
recently.
My iPod no longer shows up in banshee. The music which is on my iPod
still plays fine, there are no problems with it. However banshee doesn't
display it. When starting banshee from the console I get the following:
Debug: [05/26/2007 17:39:39] (Testing device for DAP support)
- /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_AAA4_7BC4
Information: [05/26/2007 17:39:39] (Mass Storage Support Ignoring iPod)
- The USB mass storage audio player support ignored an iPod. Either
Banshee's iPod support is broken or missing, or the iPod itself may be
corrupted.
Debug: [05/26/2007 17:39:39] (DAP has not been added)
- /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/volume_uuid_AAA4_7BC4
Debug: [05/26/2007 17:39:40] (Testing device for DAP support)
- /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_serial_Apple_iPod_000A2700149A8B89
Debug: [05/26/2007 17:39:40] (DAP has not been added)
- /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/storage_serial_Apple_iPod_000A2700149A8B89
Debug: [05/26/2007 17:39:40] (Audioscrobbler starting protocol engine)
I've looked followed the instructions on the banshee web site about
troubleshooting ipods. GVM mounts the ipod fine and I can browse it
using nautilus. Hal-device-manager shows the ipod properly (that is it
matches what is shown in the screen shot
http://www.banshee-project.org/Troubleshooting/iPod). Hal shows
volume.fsusage to be filesystem.
I've run ipod-debug-dump.sh which results in the following.
sam sabre ~/Downloads $ ./ipod-debug-dump.sh

************************* WARNING *************************
* This iPod suffers from the volume.fsusage=raid bug. *
* As such, it cannot be used in Banshee. This is not a *
* Banshee or gnome-volume-manager bug. And the issue is *
* very well known. *
* *
* Please read the following web page for more information *
* including possible fixes to the problem: *
* *
* http://banshee-project.org/Troubleshooting/iPod/RaidBug *
***********************************************************
However I don't think that is working properly due to the
dbus_connection_close() errors.
Finally I am using gentoo, with banshee 0.12.1, libipoddevice-0.5.2,
ipod-sharp-0.6.2, dbus-1.0.2, hal-0.5.7.1.
Any help or insights greatly appreciated.
Sam
