Re: [Banshee-List] Ipod doesn't show up in Banshee

Gee thanks Apple - it's like either make a version of iTunes for Linux or quit changing crap. You almost think they do it on purpose. Anyway - thanks for the link. I was going through it and ran into a problem. Here is what I got:

Ran into an issue with one of the steps
 -

the pkg-config –modversion ipoddevice doesn’t show anything, though
the configure, make and make install returned with no errors for the
first few packages.

Then, with the Gstreamer-xing package, I get this:

    configure: error: Package requirements (gstreamer-0.10 >= 0.10.3

                    gstreamer-base-0.10 >= 0.10.3

                    gstreamer-plugins-base-0.10 >= 0.10.3

                ) were not met:

    No package ‘gstreamer-0.10′ found

    No package ‘gstreamer-base-0.10′ found

    No package ‘gstreamer-plugins-base-0.10′ found

    Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you

    installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Well, Gstreamer is there, but it's not looking in the right place. I’m not too familiar with pkg-config so I googled it and saw
something that said I could run export, so I located the path to what
looks like the gstreamer directory and ran this as both my user account
and as root.

PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/opt/gnome/lib

Still, getting the pkg-config error that it can’t find gstreamer, though it’s there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim,

Apple updated the database formats. You'll need to use the latest
libipoddevice from Gnome CVS. You can also use these instructions

http://reverendted.wordpress.com/2006/10/01/upgrade-to-banshee-0110-on-sled10/

to get you the latest of everything. I guess someone, somewhere will
build a 0.11 package real soon.

Steve.

When I plug the ipod in, it shows up in Gnome and even autostarts Banshee, however the IPOD doesn't show up in Banshee. Anyone have any ideas? I've checked Banshee for settings but don't see anything. In the left pane I just have "Music Library"
