[Banshee-List] Newbie developer question

I use banshee almost daily and I like it.  I noticed that sometimes when
I switch between my playlist view and my library view I have a good 10
second delay.  I've got visual basic/visual studio development
experience (small single task based programs) and I wondered how hard it
would be for me to get into the banshee source to figure out why the
delay is occurring.  I downloaded the code and began looking at it.  I
don't know how the forms/gui events are handled, I was going to look for
the code that is triggered when switching playlist views and go from
there.  

Being completely new and all I'm wondering if this is way to difficult
for a beginner to accomplish.

I guess I have to start somewhere, eh?
