Re: [Banshee-List] banshee won't start

Thanks a lot for the tip.

Nicolas,

It looks like you're running a _very_ old version of Banshee.  0.9.7
is almost a year old if I recall correctly.  It'll also work only with
gstreamer 0.8 and probably has not been tested with the latest
releases of gstreamer 0.8.x.

True, these are the only versions that are listed for me in Yast, and update won't give me newer versions.

I'd suggest installing gstreamer 0.10 as well as banshee 0.10.11.  You
should be able to find packages for both!  gstreamer 0.10 should be
installed by default on a recent version of suse, and you should be
able to find a package of 0.10.11 (or maybe 0.10.10, which has been
out much longer) easily on packman or somewhere.

Try the newer version of Banshee and then see how it works :)

Well, I already have packman ( packman.iu-bremen.de/suse/10.0) in my list of sources, but it does not give me any newer version of banshee and gstreamer. I have tried to google a bit "suse gstreamer package" but did not find any good source...

Cheers

Nico
