Sorry for not following up on this since I started this (sub)thread. The
problem was if I remember correctly that some gstreamer files was
overwritten when banshee was installed - anyway, the problem disappeared
when I reinstalled some gstreamer-? package. (that is, first you install
banshee, then you install the gstreamer plugin). Unfortunately I can't
remember what plugin it was.
