ANNOUNCE: balsa-2.2.6 released - RH9

Pawel (and others),

Thanks for the new version!

On RH9 I get a message about it being dependent on:

	/usr/local/lib/libgmime-2.0.so.2

but if I use the "nodeps" option it installs anyway and seems to work so far . . ?

Regards,

Phil.

Hello,

Balsa team would like to officially announce balsa-2.2.6 release
available at http://balsa.gnome.org/

You can get balsa-2.2.6 directly from
http://balsa.gnome.org/balsa-2.2.6.tar.bz2
http://balsa.gnome.org/balsa-2.2.6-1.src.rpm
http://balsa.gnome.org/balsa-2.2.6-1.rh9.i386.rpm (built on RH9)
http://balsa.gnome.org/balsa-2.2.6-1.fc2.i386.rpm (built on FC2)
http://balsa.gnome.org/balsa-2.2.6-1.fc3.i386.rpm (built on FC3)

The src.rpm file includes gmime and is ready for immediate building.
Building from tarball requires earlier installation of gmime library.
Gmime library is available from
http://spruce.sourceforge.net/gmime/ or directly at
http://spruce.sourceforge.net/gmime/sources/v2.1/gmime-2.1.9.tar.gz
Observe that upgrade to gmime-2.1.9 is required to properly use GPG-
related features.

Major highlights of this balsa release are:
- fixed MBOX driver over NFS problem.
- use ISO-2022-JP for composing Japanese messages.
- yet more exceptions caught.
- S/MIME support.
- improved identity selection and address book completions (gtk >=
2.4.0 required).
- IMAP optimizations.

Happy mailing!

On behalf of balsa team,

Pawel Salek

Hi everyone,

I've just tried to package Balsa 2.2.6 for Debian unstable, but came
across the following error message while trying to run it:

"Error: Crypto engine /usr/bin/gpgsm is not installed properly.
Disable support for protocol CMS."

According to Albrecht, an alpha version of GnuPG 1.9 is required for
gpgsm to work. Debian only ships with 1.2.x at this moment, so I
explicitly tried to disable S/MIME support via: ./configure
--disable-smime --with-gpgme --with-gss --with-ldap --with-sqlite
--with-ssl, but the message is still there.

So what else could be turning on S/MIME support in the build?

Cheers,
Andrew "Netsnipe" Lau
