Hi,

I am new to balsa and am utterly annoyed by the `Oh my god, You have mail...' sound track. I am not able to find a place where I can change or disable that sound effect. In the general sound preferences there is only a program startup item for Balsa.

herher ..

/usr/share/sounds/balsa/newmail.wav .. depending of your installtion path ...

Hi,

thanks but that does not seem to help me.

First of all it seems strange that changing the new-mail sound file path in the sound preferences (EMail section) does not affect the sound used and that there is no preference in the Balsa section of the sound preferences.

Using your info I thought I could just replace that file with a different sound file, but this does not do anything. THe original sound is still played.

So now I have

aguelzow steiner:/usr/share/sounds/balsa$ ls -l
total 104
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 25102 2004-04-29 00:11 newmail- orig.wav lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 27 2004-07-16 10:44 newmail. wav -> /usr/share/sounds/email.wav -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 71198 2004-04-29 00:11 startup. wav

but I still hear newmail-orig.wav rather than newmail.wav.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is still true

I remarked I've to restart the X server before the modification is applied ....

Thank you very much, that did the job.

Andreas
