That code is really cool, I tried it when playing with the stuff for 8-bit 
charset guessing in broken messages. However, IIRC this code adds a static 
data structure of 256 kByte (!) to check the charset, so up to now I had 
some doubts if it's a good idea to use it. OTOH, it would remove *all* 
config opts for broken messages.

IMHO the correct charset is less critical for text attachments, as (I 
think) you usually process them with different software (I discovered the 
bug with a LaTeX file). Hmmm...
