Dear Russell,

I'm the Debian maintainer for Balsa. This was the only bug I could
reproduce. F1-help, maildirs & postpone work fine on my unstable box.
(Testing flow now). Could you please send us the output generated by
Debian's reportbug so that we can see what dependencies you're using?

Balsa 2.0.12 is still in unstable only, so perhaps there's a conflict
with what you are using from testing. It sounds like you might have a
GTK+ library mismatch as you're having text display problems.

You could try building some Balsa debs from the source package and
seeing if the error is still there. Do these errors appear if you're a
new user (no existing ~/.gnome2/*)? As Peter suggests, a strace might
be a lot more helpful to us.

Yours sincerely,
Andrew "Netsnipe" Lau
