What I do (since my inbox is on an imap server) is say that my mailboxen are
inbox /var/mail/jmcp
trash /home/jmcp/Mail/trash.balsa
sentbox /home/jmcp/Mail/sentbox.balsa
outbox /home/jmcp/Mail/outbox.balsa
and then when balsa starts up properly I add a new mailbox (remote imap mailbox
in my case) and make sure that when it is configured I select it and "mark
folder
as inbox" which places it at the top of the pane.
