No, it will just change the way the message is submitted.
With "local mail user agent" enabled, a sendmail process is forked to
accept mail via a pipe.
With SMTP server option, the communiction to sendmail is done via a network
socket.
Both options have their ramifications but the main mechanism remains the
same.
