How about a different option. When the messages are displayed in a separate
window, make the action of clicking/double-click display the message in its
context within the normal pane. This would allow the quick selection of
"interesting" matches, and allow the viewing of the message in context.
I would have to agree with Melanie here, in that highlighting them would
just make it harder to dig them out (note that this could be partially
fixed
by UI - using scrollbars that show the position of marked messages ;-)
