Ask and you shall receive.  The attached patch does what I think you want.
I'd like to fix it more cleanly, but that will have to wait until anoncvs
stops saying "/root/.cvsignore: locked".  The current patch is tested all
of 5 minutes, and works fine, but doesn't check for () matches.
