I would still propose t-shirt or even conference bag (jute or cloth)
which will come between $3 - $4. It doesn't mean that if we have
additional money, we should spend everything. We are just requesting for
item which is feasible and expected by paid registrants specially in
India.

Why we should give -

1) This is the first time we have registration fee (for valid reasons as
per local experience) so even if you hadn't given anything like free
t-shirt to participants in previous gnome.asia events (those years
registration was free), it would be fine to give this time.

2) We are not asking to give free item to everybody. It will be given to
only who have paid us registration money. We haven't reached 100 so far
in online registration system, so the actual quantity will be very
limited and won't add very much on our budget.

This will make differentiation easy between paid and free registrants.
We cann't justify that only food is free for paid registrants.

Say 800 people come to conference and only 150 comes through online paid
registration, we will be giving free giveaways to only 150 participants.

3) It's good for GNOME marketing. That is the whole purpose of the event
- Help to grow GNOME in Asia. It doesn't mean that by giving free give
ways only GNOME can reach to masses but it will surely help. It may help
to spread the message to a larger student community.

Just my thoughts. But in any case, we should take final call soon.

Thanks,
Akhil
