To summarize, with an extra day of conference, it will increase the
total budget by $2K (including 14 extra hotel room for 1 day that cost
$518) for max. budget (~$46K) i.e. increase by 4.3%, while increase the
total budget by $1,5K for min. budget (~25K) i.e. increase by 6%.
I also updated the tentative schedule [2] to see how many talks we can
have if we have two tracks per day (for 2 days):
To summarize: If we host two days of conference, we can accommodate 4
keynote speeches + 18 talks (1 hour each) + 10 lightning talks (5mins
each) with two tracks for 2 days (plus booths, Bofs, party, etc.)
So far we have 18 confirmed speakers (6 from India, 5 from other Asian
countries, 7 international) [3]
For GNOME.Asia committee members who considered to join the event,
please submit your talk topic, abstracts, bio on or before 13 Feb (which
is the deadline of call for paper [4] :)
Now we have more elements to make a decision to go for 1 day or 2 days
of conference. I would suggest how about we go for a 2 days conference?
Since we believe it will help to attract more sponsors (they get more
for the money they sponsor :) If we are okay with this move, I will
update and announce the two days of conference as next step, please
share your thoughts here! Thanks!
