The project properties tab depends on your project type. Anjuta supports 
mainly autotools project: having configure.ac or configure.in and 
Makefile.am in all directories. The manual description corresponds to an 
autotools project.

In additional Anjuta has some support for directory project which 
consider all file in the project directory as source and for makefile 
project which is parsing the makefile but doesn't allow any 
modification. If you are using such project type, it's normal that the 
project properties dialog is empty.

You select the type of project, typically when you import your project 
in Anjuta. You have a dialog asking your to choose one type of project.
