[Anjuta-list] passing parameters to custom tools

In the Tool Editor I've set up a tool called 'echo' and have checked
"Ask for parameter at runtime"

I get prompted for the parameter but that parameter is not passed to
echo. I've tried making my command:
echo $(anjuta.program.arguments) 

but that didn't make any difference. Is there another variable I should
be using? Am I doing something wrong?

I am using Anjuta 1.2.2
