[Anjuta-list] Are *.la libraries really needed?

When I tried to compile my Gnome-2 application, Anjuta
(not really Anjuta itself, but libtool) complains:
"libtool: link: cannot find the library '/usr/lib/libglib-2.0.la'"

and the same about libgmodule-2.0.la, libgobject-2.0.la.
I use RedHat 9.0.93 and RedHat does not install *.la files.
So may be I can do without them somehow?
