I could move on with the creation by running automake manually after
autogen.sh (Makefile.in was reported to be missing, so I suspected this
was the problem).
Yeah, the mailing list was moved over to gnome.org quite a while ago
(including the whole archive) but links might not be up-to-date anymore.
"Fail to copy file" usually means that the project template is broken and
references a file that is not available - or it means that the
installation is broken.
Could you try if that works with 3.0.3 and file a bug otherwise?
