Although its a bit late for a SoC suggestion, but in general how would you like the idea of us developing a language-support-clojure plugin? There are very few IDE options for this and other growing number of functional programming languages. Although our Python support needs to be smoothened in the first place and only then should we look to support more, but I also feel a parallel effort to support clojure could be really nice and interesting. What do you feel?
In general Anjuta should support the languages used around the GNOME ecosystem which are C, C++, Python, Javascript and Vala. Support for C and Vala is quite ok, C++ needs improvements and so does Python and Javascript. GNOME applications are also developed in C# and Java but there exist very good IDE options for them (MonoDevelop and Eclipse) and I see no need to compete with them. Given the amount of code and time needed to support another language, I doubt that this would be useful. Especially for very young and new languages that aren't widely used yet. If somebody wants to write a support plugin for language xy it is always welcome but I don't think the core developers will consider doing this. And as you say, we should improve Python support first. Regards, Johannes
