I put up a draft about a unified search/metadata api/spec here:
http://wiki.freedesktop.org/wiki/WasabiDraftJos (of Strigi fame) and I having been chatting back and forth about this, and I think we are ready for wider commenting now... Yes - that means go to the wiki and spill your heart! - But don't forget: This is not about nitpicking - this is about getting a common spec for desktop search...
