Re: [orca-list] Problems with orca and evolution

I have noticed it for about the same length of time, but these really
could do with fixing. The one about speech while writing a message when
new e-mail arrives, I didn't realise speech returns after sometime
without needing to alt-tab, so is this due to an inefficiency in orca? I
know orca can sometimes get unresponsive and take a time to catch up.
These slow parts of orca lets it down and makes it seem inefficient to
use (when compared to other systems (command line, and sometimes even
windows).

Hi,

I see these same behaviors as well. I've always assumed that these were
part of the known problems with Evolution. However, if I wait for a while,
speech comes back without Alt-Tabbing. I'm running Ubuntu Feisty, Orca is
svn trunk, and I hide deleted messages in Evolution. For me, this problem
has been around since I started with Orca and Ubuntu in Edgy.

Subject: [orca-list] Problems with orca and evolution

Hello,
I don't know if anyone else has found this, and if not, then what have
you all done different to me?

I am finding couple of issues in evolution. The first is when deleting a
message in the message list, the focus moves down to the next message,
but orca doesn't say anything. The other issue is when typing a new
message, if a new e-mail arrives in my inbox orca stops echoing words (I
only have echo words on, not echo key presses), and does not start to
again until I alt-tab focus away and back.

The set up: orca from svn trunk (although I have noticed this for quite
a time, its not really new), evolution 2.10 with view set to not show
preview pane and not to hide deleted messages (I think those might be
the most important settings in evolution relating to this), gnome 2.18.3
(on a slackware system, gnome being from the slacky project
http://www.slacky.eu).
