I'm sure running without key echo isn't terribly problematical--but
that's not a real answer.
I'm sorry I didn't catch this when you reported it, because I would
certainly want to support the notion that this isn't a bug.
Maybe the people who think it's not a bug will speak up? I must tell you
I'm rather stunned by what you said about this.
