Sounds good, in particular if perl already covers gio for most things --
if that was the reason nobody had a go at it before :-).

Best split the xs per the .so libraries so as not to drag in more at
runtime than needed.  And split the sources with the upstream sources so
as not to demand more build things than needed.

Can of course also split even further if it seems like a good idea, if
two halves of the library or sources might be used separately.  If gdk
got much separate use then its wrappers could have been separate from
gtk -- not that it does ...
