erm, there's no typemap in <topdir>/xs, it's in <topdir>.  your build log
shows it being copied into blib successfully, and also listed by name in the
xsubpp command line.  i have no idea what's up with that.

obviously, the build works fine for me.  i have these:

$ perl -MExtUtils::MakeMaker -e 'print $ExtUtils::MakeMaker::VERSION."\n";'
6.17

$ perl /usr/lib/perl5/5.8.1/ExtUtils/xsubpp -v
xsubpp version 1.9508


make does this for me:

-typemap typemap  xs/Deprecated.xs > xs/Deprecated.xsc && mv xs/Deprecated.xsc
xs/Deprecated.c

which looks rather a lot like yours.
